Saphris is very sedating to almost everyone. However, it is a more powerful antipsychotic than Seroquel, from what I understand. I took it for years, and only before bed. I don't take it anymore, and have sleep issues.

Olanzapine (Zyprexa) and clozapine (Clozaril) both help me sleep. For olanzapine I needed a dose of at least 7,5 mg (as I found out while tapering off), for clozapine I'm not sure (lowest evening dose I've had is 200 mg and that helped me sleep).

Everybody is different I take 20mgs of Zyprexa and I am ready to run a marathon. 25mg of seroquel knocks me on my behind.

Would you be taking it for sleep or psychosis or both? If you would be taking it strictly for sleep maybe you want a sleeping pill. If you have psychosis Geodon is another option, it seems to be better liked by pdocs. Its not sedating, at least for me, but if psychosis is what is keeping you awake it might be a good option.

Like many people have already said, Olanzapine (Zyprexa) is rather sedating. I was giving the drug during a hospital stay and all I did for those few days was sleep.

Saphris didn't make me tired. Seroquel used to knock me out. Zyprexa helped a bit at 5mg and was good at 20mg. Geodon helped a little bit. Thorazine was good.

Seroquel is often prescribed to help combat depressive symptoms, but I don't know much about American psychiatry. But the Americans always want to be the best that's all I know. At least we have the NHS in Britain, if that ever goes.....I am emigrating. Well, I wish I could. But supposedly I will never get a Canadian visa with the drugs I am on?? Who has heard of this?? Plus I am flat broke, criminal record, s%^t job, |

thorazine was used in low doses for sleep in some people. not exactly the most pleasant thing ever, but ive heard that low doses aren't terrible. the td risk is probably comparable to some of the newer tranquilizers, as long as the dose doesn't get all crazy. dysphoria could probably be more of an issue.
