Hi,

I am suffering from chronic pelvic pain and recently it has been suggested to me to try amitriptyline 10 mg. As an x-user of antidepressants, I don't really want to enter this line again. however, the pain and discomfort is leaving me no choice.

I just want to know how this drugs had affected various aspects of their lives, such as sexuality, feeling of love and cognitive abilities

Thanks

Elavil as its known it bran name is often given for pain relief..

I took it years ago for back pain and it made a huge difference for me so well worth it. I was on it about 6-8 months.

I was on it for about 2 years and a head injury which resulted in a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage. I saw a pain specialist and this med made a huge impact. It made me a tiny bit tired but was worth it.

I took it for a long time at 20 mg as a sleep aid. When my pdoc upped the dosage (to 100 mg eventually I think?) so that it would work as an antidepressant, I got severely agitated and had to quit.

Thanks for the replies.

I would also like to know, how this drug affected your feeling of love and cognitive abilities and maybe also if there was any sexual side effects at such low doses ?
