How much Abilify does everyone take? I am on 15 mg along with other meds and was wondering if I could ask the Dr if I could go up? Right I have no side effects to speak of but would hate to start any too.

Thank you

Effexor XR 600 mg
Abilify 15 mg
Welbutrin XL 450 mg
Seroquel 100 mg
Klonopin 1 mg

hi. used alone, abilify can be dosed up to 30. now and then doctors will go above 30, but i've been told that going above 30 raises the risks w/o as much in the way of benefits.

in your case, one problem with going up on the dosage would be the other drugs you're being prescribed. i see a high dose of wellbutrin and effexor, combined. both of those drugs (especially the wellbutrin) can raise the risk of seizures. tranquilizers/antipsychotics can, too.

still...if you think it ight be helpful, id go ahead and ask your doctor about it. i will warn you--i take abilify, btw--that, for me at least, as the abilify dose goes up, it becomes less helpful with depression, and more helpful with agitation and mixed episodes. but...that's me, not everyone. just thought id tell you that. higher doses would also probably= a higher risk of tardive dyskinesia over the long haul, so you might want to ask about an AIMS Test now and then.

hope this helps.
Thanks for this!

At one point my daughter was up to 20 mg combined with Wellbutrin for MDD. There wasn't a noticeable change between 10 mg and 20 mg for her so she was taken back down to 10 mg eventually. She's on a totally different combo now.

I take 10mg but I want to see if my pdoc can up the dose a little bit because I feel like it's barely working anymore.

I was on 10 then went up to 20. That had little effect so went up to 30. All seemed well in life, little hiccups with relationship, but those were more to do with itself than the med, I think, but then I gained 10 pounds.

We went back to 10. Bad, bad idea. Mania ensued, big time. I didn't connect the two until it was too late, and my relationship hadn't survived. I am still saddened. In therapy now, but still sad.

Now I'm pretty depressed. I can't decide, nor can my p-doc, if I'm cycling rapidly or just at a major low. So off Ability altogether and put on Trileptal.

I've been on it since August 1st. Terrible side effects.

Let's just say I want to go back to Abilify 30. I'll just deal with the weight gain somehow.
