Need to reconsider the option the Dr gave me but refused it.
I thought I was already taking too much.

Here's why?
I feel at times too lethargic.
I'm taking Wellbutrin but if Amitryptiline was added, did you guys feel any improvement?

Please share your experiences.
I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

ugh. i dunno. im not trying to 2nd guess your doctor, but wellbutrin carries a slightly higher risk than other antidepressants of inducing seizures. add in a tca, and the blood levels might go up to seizure-inducing territory. plus, the wellbutrin could affect the tca blood levels, and those drugs are often sedating and can be lethal in OD.

maybe...OK, I don't know you or your doctor, but...way back when, I found a stimulant (in my case, Adderall) plus a tca (in my case, Tofranil-PM...plain ole Tofranil would probably work as well, but my family doc had samples...) worked very well, overall.

ive been told by other doctors that they try --not-- to combine amphetamines and tca drugs, i forget why, but...maybe ritalin or focalin and a tca? even provigil or nuvigil w/ a tca might be helpful, i would think.

there are also other tca drugs besides elavil, of course. i do not understand why elavil is the go-to tca for so many doctors. tofranil (and, of course, tofranil-pm) is just as effective, but its usually dosed 1x per day, at night, and it isn't as densely sedating.

other tca options: vivactil and pamelor (these I think are more stimulating...), surmontil (sedating, good for anxiety, dosed at night...), and amoxapine (a tca that does double-duty as a tranquilizer...sometimes works faster than many other options, good for agitation, psychotic depression, etc...can cause td, so...yeah..be careful with that...).

wellbutrin+remeron is a more modern, probably safer combination. the wellbutrin is somewhat stimulating, the remeron helps w/ sleep and anxiety. now and then, wellbutrin is combined with ssnri drugs, such as effexor or cymbalta, although...again, id think you'd be safer, from a drug-drug interaction standpoint, with an ssnri plus some sort of stimulant, instead of wellbutrin.

hope this helps. if you go online, there are a number of drug-drug interactions checkers available. they generally don't pick up on everything, but they are very good at picking up major and moderate interactions.
Thanks for this!

I am very well appreciative of your very detailed response to my question.
I do not know if they have Tofranil in Colombia south America.
