I just bought three months of generic abilify and it was less than half the cost of brand-name Abilify. Is there any difference? I did not think it was a bad idea to buy generic Abilify because it is the same medicine but cheaper. I just wondered if someone is taking generic Abilify and if you noticed any difference from brand-name Abilify? I am going to take it in two days and am hoping for good results. Thanks for any comments!

I'm on 15mg and I didn't notice a difference when I switched. My Pdoc swears it's exactly the same so I guess it is.

hi. im on generic, and it works well for me. here in the us, the only problem with generics is sometimes, individuals don't get the same effect because the generic manufacturers sometimes use different ingredients in the pills--binders, for instance--and that can sometimes cause problems. i seem to recall reading that here in the us, it seems to be a bigger problem with epilepsy drugs, for some reason.

While I did awful on abilify I have never had the issues with switching from a name brand to a generic that other people have noticed. The generic has always effected me the same way as the name brands. Before Obamacare I got most of my meds through patient assistance programs because I didnt have insurance and those prorgans give you the name brand med, when I got coverage and switched everything over to generic nothing skipped a beat.

I have been taking generic Abilify for five days now. The only thing I noticed is that I am sleepy but drinking coffee wakes me up. Thus, I am doing ok. I will wait another few days and see what happens.

hi. abilify is usually less sedating than many other options, especially most of the 'atypicals.' the big, big, big problem in large studies is akathisia, so...try to be aware of that. weight gain and metabolic problems are less of an issue than with most other atypicals. the long term tardive dyskinesia risk isn't clear, but it seems to be relatively low, from what i've read+been told.

anyway...i hope the abilify helps you. im not a huge fan of tranquilizers, but i need one, and i can tolerate abilify, so...yeah. in that sense, im a fan.

Was on the brand. I typically used to try and insist on the brand product. More accepting of generics nowadays.

I feel as if the generic Abilify has increased my appetite. My clothes are getting tighter. On no!!!! Overall, it has been working the same as brand but at times I am sleepy and am eating and eating and eating. Thus, I must watch my eating habits again!

I've been on generic Abilify for over a week now. Initially my hunger increased and I was eating like a horse but now it has subsided. I am sleepy though when I take it. I sleep much more now. I take about 15 mg daily and have been at this dose since starting brand Abilify five years ago. I had taken Abilify for about ten years off and on and when I was off, I was hospitalized. I went off Abilify four times and was hospitalized four times. Now, I take my Abilify daily and have no problems with psychosis or mania. I think the generic Abilify is just as effective as brand Abilify. I am happy.

I'm so sleepy on generic Abilify. I sleep alot and wake up tired still. I drink coffee which helps. But, the sleepiness is hard to deal with at times for me. Generic Abilify works just as well as brand but being sleepy weepy is stressful. I thought about just finishing the remaining pills of generic Abilify and going back to brand again if I can't stay awake. I can't work full-time if I can't stay awake. I was hoping to get another part-time job but will be working daily even on weekends. As it stands now, it may not be such a good idea. Thus, I may go back to brand Abilify as soon as I can.

I've been taking aripiprazole 20mg for quite a long time and have never noticed any difference. The amount of active ingredient is the same in the brand and generics...the only difference may be in the inert ingredients (fillers) such as cellulose, lactose, potato starch, etc.
My pdoc was giving me samples of Abilify but I couldn't afford it when he ran out. Aripiprazole costs me $70/100 tablets.

I've gone back to brand Abilify and am now more awake. For some reason, generic Abilify made me too sleepy. Today, I did not take a nap and feel fine. Next week I will get some more brand Abilify. I am sorry about the bad news but I have to work and survive on my own. Being sleepy for me is very stressful. My head seems clearer also.

As I said before, I switched back to brand Abilify. I feel more awake. Only problem is I feel horny again. hahahahahaa The generic version made me at first hungry then sleepy. I could not function. Therefore, I switched back to brand and feel ok again. I think if I was not working, generic would be acceptable. But, I need to work to survive and being sleepy is not good for me. I am also feeling more like myself. I was getting depressed with the sleepiness. I am not depressed now.

I've been taking brand Abilify for over a month now after taking generic Abilify for a few weeks. I feel great. I am not horny and am stable. I am able to work, study, and live independently. I am not hypomanic and do sleep well too. I am doing well. I wish the generic Abilify had worked because it would have saved me much money. But, the side effects were too overwhelming. I have no complaints with brand Abilify.

I started on the brand name now I'm on the generic. I didn't notice a difference when I switched.

Been on aripiprazole for years...no problems or side effects and just as effective as the brand...and a big plus is that it costs me less than a third of the price of Abilify.
The inert ingredients in different generics (cellulose, soy, potato starch, etc) might affect some people adversely...? Some people complain about it but if you do well on one from a specific manufacturer you can have your pharmacy order it for you...my pharmacy has no problem with special orders...

I think I am. I've been on it for about 6 days I think and I'm getting terrible migraines and not sleeping well. Taking 5mg in morning. Anyone else having these issues?

Sleeping problems on abilify are common and will get better within a month.

My doctor asked me yesterday if I had been on ablify. And I said yeah when I was 13-14. I told him I refuse to take it though, and he said he wasn’t going to put me on it. I am not sure what he was getting at.

I have been taking brand Abilify after taking generic for about a month. I am doing well again on brand Abilify. The fillers or inert ingredients in the generic probably caused me side effects. I could not tolerate these side effects. I take only brand Abilify and am not used to taking many medications. I was sleepy and my appetite increased a lot with generic Abilify. I could not stay awake and was eating like a horse. Thus, I stopped and went back to brand and am doing well. I was doing well on brand before and the pharmacist suggested I take generic. My doctor told me that he would put a note saying I can't take generic anymore on my prescriptions. Thus, the problems has been solved. However, the cost is higher with brand Abilify but is worth it to me. I have been taking brand Abilify for five years continually except for my stint with generic for a month.
