My pdoc prescribed these for when I'm having a panic attack. Anyone use this or any experience. I also take gabapentin 1800 a day for anxiety.

vistaril for me is useless for a panic attack. Only benzo's work for me. It's great for allergies though especially itching. YMMV

I had some kind of weird reaction to vistaril. It was like lucid dreaming but I was awake. I think it made me so drowsy, I dissociated.

I'd take it and be ravenous for days afterwards. The hunger started about an hour after taking it.

It made my anxiety worse. One of the neighbors closed their gate and it scared me in an odd way. Like I didn't jump, or scream, I just got this awful feeling in my stomach. I think if I had been 15 years older, I would have had a heart attack. That night I was lying in bed feeling like I was going to die. I had all these involuntary muscle twitches. I was drowsy the next day and I could not function.

That was the last time I took it.

I'm not sure if I was allergic to it or just had a bad reaction. It was not good though.

I got on Ativan a couple of weeks later. It works great. I take one and it gets rid of my anxiety in 15 minutes and my anxiety stays gone for several days. I have no side effects. It doesn't make me hungry, it doesn't make me drowsy. It just works.

I was on Ativan and xanax. Didn't do much then doc changed me to klonopin and had to double my dose to 2 mg and it worked. Doc didn't want me in too many addicting so she put me on gabapentin which works ok. I definitely had less anxiety but it doesn't to anything if I was having a panic attack. Told that to my pdoc in iop. He upped my dosage of gabapentin to 1800 and added vistaril. Haven't needed it yet but did use it to sleep.

i found hydroxyzine helped me get to sleep, but it wasn't a good idea for daytime use. your experience might be completely different, though.

I took it and it really had no effect. I took up to 50prn and 100 to sleep.

Vistiril didn't help me, but I have a friend who finds it very useful.

Vistaril made me startle really easily. It was bad. Also being drowsy made me feel worse in a way. I hated it. I wasn't at all calm on the inside.

I think it effects people differently. I took and had an out of body experience. Very scary.
