I have been on invega for almost a year and I am now taking 12mg which is a high dosage. I noticed I haven't had my period for months now and I think they are related. Has anyone else experienced this or know anything about this?

Some medications can increase levels of a hormone called prolactin, which can result in missed periods.

Risperidone effectively stopped my periods when I started it. I'd get a period like every 8 or 9 months.

It doesn't seem healthy to me, not getting periods. I think the uterine lining builds up without being shed, which isn't a good thing.

I agree. I need to get it taken care of. My doctor keeps denying its the invega but I read about other people missing their periods. She keeps saying its something else but there is nothing else I think it is.

Well, keep pursuing it. Maybe you need to change meds. Certain meds have definitely affected my periods.

hi. sounds like prolactin elevation to me. i think its fairly easy to treat...some docs have even started adding abilify to treatment, because somehow that can lower prolactin levels. a switch to another medication is also an option.

Have you consulted a gynecologist?
