Hi everyone

I tried Zoloft for my pure OCD and depression and even after two days whilst taking it I was feeling horrible. Diazepam made everything even worse so stopped them all.

My doctor started me on Prozac 20 once a day. Two days so far a bit irritability and nightmares. So not that bad. However it makes me feel numb. Is this normal? It scares me a bit. Can't feel much. I know obviously it's too early for it to work and all but I am just wondering if this is a side effect that will wear off in like two weeks time? And for those who tried it, were you helped by it and when did you notice a difference?

Any comments welcome. Thanks

I guess i thought feeling numb was kinda the whole point of taking prozac in the first place.

Hi and thank you for your reply. I don't know I guess I will have to just endure it for a while. I used to hate pills like that but when you need them then you need them!

I've found Prozac by far the least sedating and the least likely to make me feel like a zombie.

Absolutely agree with this. I have been on Prozac for about 13+ years, it's by far the least sedating of the medications I've been on.

Thank you all for your replies.

I have nightmares every night on it. But that's the least of my worries. I started having palpitations. I thought oh well it will go away but this morning I almost passed out whilst taking a shower I think I had tachycardia and my blood pressure dropped. I phoned NHS24 (I live in Scotland, UK) and told me to not take it today and phone my GP tomorrow as I might need to change pills. I am disappointed. This pill seemed to not sedate me and work ok so far even from the first few pills. And now I probably need to change again.. how long until I find something that agrees with me

All psychotropic drugs come with some side effects for some users and it's pretty common. The good news is that they only last a few days to a week or so getting better everyday. Rarely do they require stopping the medication.

I hope I won't need to change again. I will speak with my doc tomorrow but seriously I hate all those pills. But I realize I need them and there is no shame taking them. It took me a long time to realize that and if I had acted sooner maybe I wouldn't be in this position. Oh well what happened happened. It's what doing now that matters.

I've never had any problem taking my meds...really no big deal side effects and they work well. I DO have major problems being OFF my meds so I'm grateful for them. Diabetics, cardiac patients, everybody with an illness has to take meds, us included.
