Hey all,

I have now been on Prozac for 3 weeks. Started at 20 mg the first week and then went up to 40 mg the past two weeks. I was starting to turn the corner and felt the depression/anxiety was lifting. Now the last few days I have been having an upset stomach/acid like feeling in throat like indigestion. Has anyone had experience with this? I am not sure if it just anxiety or a physical side effect? Will this go away? I do not want to switch because I feel better depression wise.

Sorry you are experiencing this.

Prozac has got that particular side effect listed as 'rare', though not exactly as you described it.
I'd bring it up with your doctor and I understand your reluctance to stop the Prozac, as you are doing well on it. I have had side effects before where I have had to weigh up the pros and cons. Discuss it with your doctor.

Good luck.

I'm trying prozac right now too, on about the same timeline but only at 20 mg. I've definitely had that same side effect, not every day since I started but here and there. I read somewhere that Prozac itself is actually pretty acidic/harsh on the stomach, I'm not sure if that's true? The only things I've found that help a little are trying to take it with food, making sure I don't lay down soon after taking it, and taking the prevacid I take sometimes anyway.
It seemed like it might've been starting to go away until it came back yesterday, hopefully it'll go away with time for you, too.
Thanks for this!
