My pdoc is taking me off Wellbutrin and adding abilify. He said abilify gives you some alertness and said it is a very good drug. I'm currently on 5 mg a day.
Has it worked for you?

i take 20mgs, with trileptal and a low dose of lamictal. as tranquilizers go, i like it. if you need a tranquilizer long term, i would say at least try abilify.

I take 10 mg with my antidepressant and it frankly helps.

I would not say it gives you alertness... Rather I would say that it's not sedating like other antipsychotics can be.

Abilify took the edge off of my misery. Which was a good thing. I don't know about alertness, because I felt so awful at the time.

Abilify works well for many people. Just watch for any signs of mania. It sent me manic and has been the case for quite a few others. I hope it works well for you.

Personally, it did not work for me but it definitely works for many people, as facefulloffuzz stated above. Come to think of it, I may have not given it that much a chance to work.

When I was on Abilify at 5mg I had quite good energy levels but when I went up to 10mg I started feeling sleepy a lot during the day. Ironically I'm now on olanzapine which makes me sleep longer but the important point is I don't feel tired during the day.

Abilify didn't do anything for me, but it definitely helps plenty of people. I hope it helps you.

Abilify works for me. I have been on it for five years continually. I take about 15 mg daily. I only take Abilify and am doing well.

I've been good with it. My mood and motivation have increased and I wake up easier than I did before. That being said, it has been hard for me to sleep and stay asleep.

Abilify had a very strange effect on me. I had severe nausea and loss of appetite both starting and tapering off the drug. When I was on it, I felt a little on top of the world, almost hypomanic like. (I have to use the terms "almost" and "like" because I have never received a bipolar diagnosis...just MDD). And 2 months after the drug started working, I crashed hard into a horrible depression and my pdoc pulled me off of it. Sorry, don't have a good story for you.

I have been on and off continually for years and it's a good drug for me. I hate it when they try to mess with my dosage. 15 mg is perfect for me. Only went manic.on it once in 13+ years. They took me off it and added Zyprexa in its place. Killed the mania but gained a lot of weight.

Have been taking aripiprazole for a long time due to the $$$$$ of Abilify. It's fantastic and keeps me very steady.
