I was put on 25 milligrams per day of Seroquel last week, and now I feel really strange. I feel almost like I'm dissociating. I feel like I'm in the wrong body or like I don't recognize myself. Is this a side effect of Seroquel? Will it go away soon?

no, they put me on it because I started having delusions.

Wow 25mg is very low for delusions. Usually they would put you on 200-300mg to start and work your way up from there. at 25mg seroquel does not act like an anti psychotic.

Hi, sarahcutie, and welcome to Psych Central! I was on Seroquel to knock me out at night. (I am bipolar.) I don't remember that side effect, though.

Maybe you can talk to your doctor about it. I wouldn't think it'd be for delusions at that level either. Are you supposed to get higher dosages? :

I'm supposed to double it in a week, and keep doubling from there each week.

The higher the dosage the less sedating it is. I am suprised your doctor didn't start you on 100mg. When I was on it I went from 100 to 300 to 600. But then it gave me diabetes so I had to come off. I wish you the best of luck with the seroquel. It works wonders for some people it just was bad for me.

Yeah, 25mg. is a tiny dose, one used to help sleep. Same with 50mg. 100mg. would be the lowest starting dose for delusions.

I think you need to question your pdoc.

Since i started taking the meds, my delusions have actually gone away, but have now been replaced with dissociation about myself. I even find myself questioning my gender, something i have never done before.

Seroquel ruined my life. I haven't felt like
my normal self once since being forced to take seroquel.
I just don't want that to happen to anyone else. I took seroquel shots for 3 months. That was 2 years ago and even now I am no longer myself. I gained 50 pounds in 3 months from seroquel shots.

I also dissociated on that med. It was used for sleep. Didn't try it many times. I was convinced by my emotions that I was in a game and nothing mattered. I felt that whatever I did it wouldn't have any effects. Luckily it made me to tired to go rampant in the matrix.
