Hi, I'm wondering how you take your lithium...all at once before bed, or in doses throughout the day?

My pdoc has prescribed 900mg. to be split up 3 times over the day. The problem is, when I take the lithium I am very sleepy. I'd prefer to take it all at bedtime.

Thanks

You have to take it split doses during the day to keep the lithium level consistent in your blood

I took 600mg a.m. and 900mg at bedtime. If you've recently started your lithium the sleepiness is probably a side effect that will resolve or a week or two.

Thank you all, I appreciate your input. Guess I have to split the dose alright. Oh, well.

There is extended release (lithobid) and continuous release (eskalith) that let you take it all at once at night. Both are generic so should be quite cheap.
