I am not on it yet, as myself and my doctor are discussing the possibility of replacing the Seroquel with Geodon.

I was told by my doctor that it is a divided dose. Has it got something to do with how long it lasts in one's system? Idk, just my guess.

Geodon has a very short half life of roughly 7 hours...you need twice daily dosing to maintain steady state therapeutic levels. I don't think there's an extended release formulation, but I could be wrong...

hi. geodon doesn't last long in the body, so its dosed 2x daily, sort of like old school seroquel. if i remember correctly, each dose of geodon must also be taken with food containing a good number of calories, to ensure proper absorption. geodon never was as popular as many of the other 'atypicals,' in part because of the dosing and also because it had a black box warning from the fda for a while, because of cardiovascular issues that popped up during the initial drug trials. i do not know if it still has the black box warning.

I was actually going to ask my doctor if I could take all my geodon at night. Now I know that would not be a good idea.

Thanks for all the replies. I see my doctor next week so fingers crossed I can get on it and that it works sufficiently.

I take it all at night. It make me too drowsy to take it during the day and it works fine this way.

Best wishes.

I just started Geodon, yes twice a day. Not seeing any benefit yet , but it’s only been a couple weeks .

My only problem is the eating at least 350 calories with each dose. Anorexia in remission atm.

I’m not use to eating twice a day .

I asked my doctor about taking all my geodon at night and his answer was to lower my morning dose. Sometimes I just don’t understand him.
