Does anybody know of any anti-anxiety meds that don't make you super sleepy?

I've only tried klonopin, but I take it in the morning and it's hard for me to keep my eyes open. I'll be meeting with a prescriber soon and am wondering if there's anything else I could ask about.

All of the anxiety meds I've been on have made me a little bit drowsy. I take mine at night before bed so that I can sleep off the worst of it.

They have me a forced injection of Ativan in the hospital and it knocked me out. I’m assuming hats different than a pill...

Same. Ativan does not make me tired. I only take .5 though.

Visteral on the other hand caused me to sleep 10 hours straight, then I had another 2 hours of lying in bed, I was a zombie the rest of the day, and I took at least one nap. I was also eating everything I could get my hands on. I literally ate a box of almond butter granola bars in 10 minutes.

I am still technically prescribed it, but I refuse to take it. I just take my Ativan instead. My doctor doesn’t know I don’t take it.

At the emergency room in 2009 I got two shots. 2 milligrams of Ativan and 5 milligrams of haldol. The next morning I threw up twice. I’m lucky I just threw up instead of something worse happening. I was also hallucinating in the emergency room after the shots. The doctor didn’t really care.

I’m guessing I had a slight overdose.

In 2012 I told my therapist and she said “yeah cause you faked a freak out.” I kind of have to agree with her on this one.

Klonopin, I think I’m allergic to. I was on it twice but got off pretty quickly because of the side effects.

Ativan can make some people tired, just as other benzos possibly do.

Some people get prescribed propanolol for anxiety. Works for some, but others report that it only helps with the physical symptoms. For those for which it works, the lack of physical symptoms is actually calming.

I've taken BuSpar (buspirone) for years with no side effects. It controls anxiety without sedation or risk of habituation/addiction like the benzos.
