I keep forgetting to ask the doctor, so I'll try to remember for monday, but maybe someone here knows something. Is there anything, besides switching off Wellbutrin, to get rid of the shakes?
Thanks

I have never heard of anything. Since Welbutrin is an anti-depressant I do not know of anything for the side effects of anti-depressants. It may be important to tell the doctor of these side effects because a side effect of Welbutrin can be seizures I don' t know if the shakes could be another neurological side effect, though I would really try to remember to tell the doc of this.

I am on an anti-psychotic drug (Risperdal) that causes tremors in my hands and take a drug called Artane to help reduce these tremors. Sorry I didn't have much helpful advice just a little input- take care- Chris

I was on wellbutrin and had the shakes pretty bad. They went away a little, but never fully stopped until I stopped taking it. I had stopped taking it because I had a seizure. (It had nothing to do with the wellbutrin, they don't think, but took me off as a precaution....)

Krzykris,
You say you are on risperdal...so am I. I have a question for you on this....did it make you gain weight and most of all, did it make you want to sleep for DAYS??

Thank you.

Hi Nervousville
Yes the Risperdal cause me weight gain, quite a bit, though some of my others caused it as well, I used to be small and now I am 'Large' though Physical things like I have an underactive thyroid, and am on thyroid med's.

The thing about riperdal I have been told is that one of the side effects is a "Craving for Carbohydrates" and I know that on Risperdal I do crave carbs.

Take it easy, Chris

Wellbutrin was such a mixed bag for me. It helped with my depression more then any other medication I have ever taken. However I too got the shakes (no pun intended). I shook constantly and my eyes twitched. It was so bad that when I was laying down trying to sleep I would get muscle spasms in my leg.
Nevertheless I had to stop taking it after about 2 and a half months of this and realizing it was not going to go away. The shaking destroyed my emotional state of mind. I remember one time I actually started sobbing in front of my mother because I could not take it anymore. I was really hoping that it was one of those side effects that would go away but it just never did.
Supposedly there is a new Wellbutrin out there with less side effects? Maybe you should talk to your doctor about going on that one.
I hope the best for you.

Jessica

It all varies, it depends how long you've beenon Wellbrutin, but some meds people just get shakes from, but it sounds like it could be a side effect.

How long have you been on it?

I was on it for almost 3 months before I stopped. My side effects from past antidepressants passed in a matter of weeks. I was under the impression that most side effects subsized by then.

The shaking isn't that bad. It gets worse if I'm anxious/nervous, so that makes writing or signing things like checks and forms - which I've done way too much of lately... - a little sloppy. It's annoying, but not enough of a reason to change it, whether getting it lowered or switched, because it seems to be helping.

I haven't been taking it long, one week on the XL, and before this one week of the SR while in the hospital. Maybe the SR is the one that's supposed to have less side effects? I've been shaking on both, though. I don't know what makes SR different, but I know XL is the once-a-day form.

Taonuviel,
I think you are right that the SR is the one with less side effects, but I do not know what is so different about it. I hope that the Wellbutrin works out for you because it really does such a wonderful job. Maybe lowering it will help lessen the shaking and who knows maybe you will be one of those people where it will stop after awhile.
I wish the best for you.

Jessica

It could take up to a full 6 weeks for the side effects to let up, all meds are different but generally that's how it goes. If they don't subside after 6 weeks then tell your doctor and he/she will likely either up the dose, lower it or swtich it all together...

Some people just have some shakes while on medication, and might not have anything to do with side effects, it just what happens from time to time.

But definatly let your doctor know. Everyone is different in terms of side effects and meds, some people will get them, and others will not.
