Alprazolam/Xanax has been my go to medication for panic disorde for about 3 years now. Started with 1/2 mg, now at 1mg.
Usually I just google these kind of questions, but I can't find an explanation and am genuinely curious and was just wondering, maybe some of you more science savy/ med educated people here might know... It didn't matter the dose - Lorazepam either did NOT work on me whatsoever - no effect OR twice - it gave me a very very negative effect, exasperating my anxiety, very shortly after ingestion to the point of having my worst extreme episodes of panic and fear and terror - once putting me in the hospital - my only time in a mental hospital. Why? What is so different about me or it that it would do that?? I am just SO curious.... is it metabolism? is it some kind of brain chemical reaction? 1mg xanax is doing great for me for now, but I definitely want a back up plan for the future because I don't want to go back to my major panic disorder/agoraphobic state without meds and I don't really want to have to up the dose if 1 mg becomes ineffective at some point and I DEFINITELY don't want to go through again what I went through with the lorazepam |

Alprazolam works much better then Lorazepam for me too. Different drugs react differently in different people. There are other drugs out there, those aren't your only two options.

Alprazolam is much more powerful by mouth. Lorazepam in IV form kicks my butt
