Everyone is so different. Buspar was awful for me. I had blurred vision and couldn't drive. I have no experience with the other one.

Gabapentin is a garbage psychiatric drug - it does what it does but when it’s prescribed for anxiety or as a mood-stabilizer it is being abused.

Buspar is a better anti-anxiety med. There are better - stronger and less-prescribed - anti-anxiety meds. I’m surprised that your doc won’t just increase your clonezapam? Or is that being prescribed by your cardio doc (the Propranolol)? Buspar is a real anti-anxiety med.

I have tried both. Gabapentin caused aggression in me. Buspar (Buspirone) has worked far better. I am on 30mg 2x/day.

I've never had buspar, but I think gabapentin's been good. It's something I noted over time (a few/3 weeks?? I'm terrible with time perception) -- it wasn't obvious right away. I'm just generally doing better in that department, and I think that's the med responsible.

I've been on both and neither did much for me. I don't remember gabapentin making any difference and Buspar just made me feel not like myself. Hopefully you find what works for you!

Everyone’s different, so...

Buspar did nothing for me. I’m on 400mg of gabapentin three times a day and that helps. It’s not a sudden drop, more like a gradual easing of anxiety. My husband, on the other hand, gets loopy on 100mg.
Thanks for this!

Buspar did nothing, neurontin did nothing, but pregabilin, which is related to gabapentin, helps some.

I took neurontin for the shingles years ago so I don't know if it helped bipolar. Buspar was like a sugar pill for me it did nothing at all. Sorry I could not be of more help.

thanks for all the replies guys.. not that i am any closer to making a decision to choosing which way to go, but i did learn that both have the potential to work..part of me is leaning towards gaba, coz comparatively it got less negative reviews overall..well well look at that, guess i am more decisive now than i was before..here's hoping it helps me..

Buspar did nothing for me.

I take gabapentin for a physical issue, but it definitely helps my anxiety as well.

I second gabapentin it has helped with anxiety. However if I’m at full panic attack mode it doesn’t do anything for that.

Just returning from my visit from doc. He ended up prescribing pregabalin (Lyrica), it's FDA approved for treating GAD, so it has that going for it. I pleaded for Gabapentin but he said this stuff is better. Worried if it'll cause weight gain, my doc assures me it won't, but I've heard that before, lol.. maybe the Christmas spirit will bless me and i'll be okay.. here's hoping..

Btw..merry Christmas everybody..hope peace finds your soul and never leaves..

Buspar doesn't work too well for me it just spaces me out for a few hours. But I have heard other people use it and don't have many issues.
Thanks for this!
