I'm being started on tradozone again. I haven't taken it since I was a kid for insomnia. Now my insomnia has been worse than ever so my pdoc is having me take 100mg at night to sleep. Does anyone have any advice on how to wake up easily in the morning? I work every day at 7am so I can't afford to oversleep.

Hi there
I took Trazodone for a while a few years ago and I had a good experience with it. I found that taking it around 7 - 8 pm worked best as it would really be taking effect around 10 pm when I would be wanting to be falling asleep. It is not heavy and sedating like Ambien however, it DOES make your vision blurred and give you a little bit of a foggy feeling, almost like being drunk but not like falling down and stumbling drunk. Dont let what I said scare you, it is a very helpful medication, you just need to play around with it a little bit and find out how you can get into a routine and get it to function the way you want it to. - Kris |

I agree. You'll need to try an earlier bedtime and experiment when to take it to see what works for you. But I take it and can usually get up if I really have to. But that means around 9:00 or so at the earliest!

Well I took it last night, only took a half tablet so 50mg because I was worried about getting up for work. I was disappointed because I still was waking up every two hours like I normally do. I’ll try the full dose and take it around 8pm and see if that makes a positive difference for me.
