Hi everyone, my name is Andy. I sought the help of a counselor due to some issues in my life and ended up getting tested for ADHD about a month and a half ago. I did test high apparently and the counselor recommended a mixture of medication and counseling. So I was referred to a psychiatrist and prescribed Adderall XR. I wasn’t a big fan of it in all honesty. It helped a lot with different things but it also had a lot of negatives such as paranoia and mood swings. My doctor switched me to Vyvanse which I prefer quite a bit. It definitely helps with focus and innattentiveness in a more “natural” sort of way. The one question I have is that even though I prefer this to the adderall I still feel hyper. I can focus if I put my mind to it easier but I still bounce off the walls between things I’m working on. I read that zinc and fish oil can help with these but I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience or had any suggestions? Thank you!

Hello Andy: I'm sorry I cannot address your concern. However I see this is your first post here on PC. (I'm sorry you are only now receiving your first reply.) Welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

hi. I do Orthomolecular. Its basically high dose c, e, b-complex, niacinamide, some other vitamins. The only thing is that high doses of vitamin C can reduce amphetamine levels, but maybe I"m mistaken (?).

anyway, I do Orthomolecular w/ treatment for Bipolar I. For me, it helps with overall health, symptoms, and it makes it easier to tolerate the psych drugs (Abilify, lamictal). I've been doing Orthomolecular for over 7 years, and I Haven't been hospitalized in that ime, so...good times.

some orthomolecular protocols include zinc, selenium, fish oil, etc.

if you're interested, here's a link to free information. I put together my vitamin line up based mostly on stuff from this website.
