I'm desperate at this point. NO sleep meds like ambien, lunesta, ect. work. Benzo's don't work. (klonopin, ativan, valium)

I'm thinking about asking my pdoc for gabapentin. Anyone take it for sleep? What is your dosage? Do you take lamitrogene (Lamictal) too?

I take 800 mg of gabapentin for sleep, along with a moderate dose of a
(usually heavily) sedating AP and 2 mg of klonopin. It's a lot but it's what gets me sleep. I can go up to 1000 mg of gabapentin if needed.

i take low dose gabapentin as needed for sleep. i take abilify and 200mgs lamictal. it only takes 200-600mgs for me to get to sleep, but that's on an as needed basis. with daily use, i imagine one might need more.

I take gabapentin with trazadone and propranolol for sleep at night. I cannot sleep without the gabapentin at all. I used to take 800-1200mgs, now I take 600mgs.

I hear ya. I have struggled a lot with sleep my whole life, but my current cocktail does seem to help when it comes to sleep. I am on 900 mg Gabapentin per day. Sometimes I will skip one dose and take 600 mg daily.

I wouldn't say that by itself it helps that much, but in combo with antipsychotic meds, in my case Seroquel, it helps "augment" it when it comes to giving me the ability to fall asleep faster. My body is dependent on Seroquel though for sleep, I must admit. I don't just take it for sleep though. I use it for mood stabilization and the AP effects.

Gabapentin has helped me with that physical restlessness before bed, where it slows me down a little bit, giving me the ability to transition easier into sleep. I was skeptical at first when trying it, but I do notice a difference. I have heard that Gabapentin by itself for sleep has helped people though. I just feel I need a really sedating combination to do the job.

Yes, I am on Lamictal too. That medication seems to be neutral for me when it comes to sleep though. I am on 400 mg daily (200 in the AM and 200 in the PM).

Gabapentin didn't make me sleep, it just made me dizzy and dumb. But we're all different. The antihistamine medication that is most effective for sleep with less severe side effects than Remeron and Seroquel is propiomazine, aka Propavan, Largon and Indorm. This is basically the only standard sleep med given in my country.

As I cannot take it myself, there are many who can, some report hangover effects, some don't. It's not used as an on label sleep med in many countries, but many still have it for other purposes and are willing to prescribe it off label for sleep. 25-50 mg is a normal dosage for sleep.

Another though, now I have no idea how fast you process the Elvanse, but with me, all stimulants with extended release fail to stop working in time at night, so I cannot fall asleep. I can only use instant release ADHD-medications.
