My pdoc offered this to me today-prior to that I had not ever heard of it. I know it is a tricyclic. Interesting to have it mentioned twice in one day.
Pdoc says that it definitely puts people to sleep and allows a deep, uninterrupted sleep. I don't have a prescription for it bc trying some other things first. |

He gave it to me for sleep it's kinda a last resort for me nothing else works. If this doesn't work next up is thorazine.

May I suggest prazosin. I discovered quite by accident in the last couple of weeks it helps me sleep. My doc prescribed it for PTSD nightmares which I took only prn, but I was desperate for sleep and would not take another ambien or Latvian and it's been working for me.

Doxepin is one of the few meds I have not been on. I hope it helps; it sounds like a decent med for sleep.
I was on a lower dose of Thorazine many years ago. I didn't find it terrible, as I recall. It's important to keep in mind that the old stigma about Thorazine comes form a time when people were given monster doses of it. |

Well it does not put me to sleep worth a damn. I am taking restoril to put me to sleep. I will say this though doxepin does keep you asleep though. I haven't been waking up in the middle of the night. I am calling doxepin a win.

Doxepin literally made me crazy. Have you tried Vistiril it is a anti histamine like benadryl. No prblems feeling foggy the next day. It is prescription only. It is non addictive. They give it in hospitals instead of ativan and xanax because its non addictive.

Happy to hear that doxepin was a winner for you. Right now as I titrate down on the Ambien I am doing 600 mg calcium to 300 magnesium. Can't really offer an opinion on that yet. Last night was not a normal night for me and then there are nights I can't sleep no matter what I put in my mouth.
