Is it possible that the meds I'm on can cause me to be extraordinarily irritable? It's odd, I was sad before I started the meds and could cry and the drop of a hat. Now I can't, even when I want to. Instead I seem to switch from irritability (being mad about simple things, even if someone looks at me the wrong way, and I HATE being mad) to being very happy (not manic, but pretty close).
Where's the emotional regularity in all this? When will I feel normal?! I'm on Cipralex 10mg if anyone has anything to say... (It's called Lexapro elsewhere). I've been taking them for 3 weeks now, and I dont have a pdoc appt for another 3 weeks.

Canders,
I would call the doctor's office, and let him know. I think some anti-depressants have been known to cause mania. The irritability sounds like a form of depression. As you know I only have a business degree, so I'm certainly not an expert on this. Hugs, EJ |

Thanks (((((((((((EJ))))))))))))) I'm probably going to go talk to the pharmacist tomorrow. Can't get in to see the doc until my appt (booked solid, whee) but I'm sure my pharmacist can help me out.

I'm not sure I want to start the Lexapro my doc gave me now! As I was suffering from irritability and agitation and getting snappy at the smallest thing... and that was on Aurorix after coming off Efexor.
Hope it works out for you! |

Yes to irritability as a side effect. I think the irritability / agitation / anxiety tends to settle down in a few days to a week... But that being said sometimes it will escalate. If it becomes an agitation and / or you start to get serious thoughts of harming yourself / someone else then I'd talk to your doc ASAP.

Hang in There. |
