Hello,
I have been suffering from major depression for the past 3 years. Been resisting to take any antidepressants. Got described to take Brintellix (Vortioxetine) 10mg. Anyone have any experience from Brintellix (Vortioxetine) 10mg for depression/major depression? But I feel that nothing else helps and I might have to try to take antidepressants. I used to be on Cymbalta for major depression, years ago, for depression which helped me. But my psychiatrist suggested me to try Brintellix (Vortioxetine) 10 mg, since it's a more modern antidepressant with fewer side effects than Cymbalta. Also been suggested to try CBD oil by friends. Otherwise, i'm a male 34, high functioning autism, diabetes 1, high blood pressure. |

I'm not familiar with this drug. Is it really new? Like only came out last year or something?

I think you mean Trintellix. I was on it and it really helped my depression. As I continued taking it, however, it reall messed with my sleep (3-5 hours), but I'm bipolar. I think it's pretty activating. Once I titrated off it my sleep pattern returned to normal.

Im on Brintellix in Aus or Trintellix in US I think or is it the other way around? lol can't remember I started on 5mg for a week went to 10mg but found that was too much made me slightly anhedonic kinda so been on 5mg for 8 weeks- it's a good medication works quickly for anxiety has a much shorter jittery period than fluoxetine, venlafaxine, desvenlafaxine, wellbutrin but it does cause nausea not serious at 5mg just a little queasy at 10mg same but a bit longer.
Had minimal sexual side effects. Take it at night- seems to be the best for me although it doesn't make me drowsy or wired now at first it did both but now it's fairly neutral on that front. I know it's still hugely expensive in the US it's not subsidised in Australia so needs to be done on a private script expensive by our standards at $63 from Chemistwarehouse I get about $30 back through private health so works out quite ok. Often people say & even my doctor said "oh it's really just another SSRI" it's really not though. Worth a try for anyone considering it ![]() |

I took Trintellix for about 6 months but stopped recently. I felt like it really helped my mood and depressive symptoms but the side effects for me were bad. Terrible indigestion and stomach upset as well as major water retention and weight gain. Again, for mood, I thought it worked quite well.
