This summer has been extremely and unusually hot. The past week, however, has been cooler, with chilly mornings and nights. The afternoons are warm, though. The moment my body feels even the tiniest bit warm I am drenched in sweat. It's miserable, and I hate it. My clothes feel damp and droopy; my hair just feels icky, no matter how clean it is. I feel like I could pour a bucket of ice water over myself and still be sweaty.
I know the overheating/sweating is attributable to medications. I'm taking Lamictal, low-dose Seroquel, Paxil (low dose), Gabapentin (low dose), and Klonopin. I'm thinking that it's either the Paxil, Gabapentin, or Lamictal causing the overheating and sweating. Does anyone have experience with this problem, or ideas? |

I'd say Paxil. As soon as I googled 'medications causing overheating', antidepressants were of the drugs mentioned.
(One site even naming Paxil in a list of 3 examples) These medications apparently inhibit the part of the brain that tells you that you are overheating. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem, and I hate it. I started having this problem when I started Efffexor (still on it). But my risperidone and seroquel also contribute to it. Most of the a-typical AP's cause increased sensativity to heat and increased photosensativity.
Wish there was an easy solution. splitimage |

Thank you both very much. TicTac, thank you for googling the problem - you phrased the search well.
As far as I know, most psych meds cause overheating, but it seems to me that Paxil is causing the drenching sweats. |
