My doctor just added valium for sleep. Anyone have a good or bad time with it?

Works for me but it has a long half life so you could have a harder time waking up.

Haven't touched Valium since high school in the late 70's, when I used to steal my mother's Valium, so I'm sorry I can't help. I will say, though, that when I read the title of your post, someone inside my mind said, "Yep!"

never took valium. briefly took Librium, which is valium-esque...fast onset, long half life. Librium just requires higher doses and has a more pronounced muscle relaxer effect (so said the prescriber, anyway). anyway...
i hope it works well for you. back in the day, standard doses went up to 40mgs/day (that's I think 2mgs Klonopin or xanax, I could be wrong though). a friend...her dad takes valium at night for his agitation, cuz he's Bipolar I and his shrink is old school like that...and he rather likes it. i think the goal there is more to "top off" the other psych drugs, cuz his dose is low, too (I know this because my friend handles stuff when he goes into the hospital, LOL). hope it helps. :-) |

Valium or diazepam or any other benzo. I wouldn't take it for all the money in world. You can be addicted in 2 to 4 weeks and withdrawal is horrendous. Trust me going through it right now. Need proof. Look up Aston manual from uk on benzodiazepines or look up benzo withdrawal symptoms.

Using the Ashton method I had a very smooth time getting off of benzos. Not bad at all. Just maybe three days I didn't feel great.

Valium, as some have said, can have a residual sedating effect due to the long half-life.
I did not experience this, and had no other problems. (personally)
