My brief period (6 months) on Sertraline has been that it sapped my creativity and basically made me not want to do anything, not feel anything. I just sit at the computer and watch videos and occasionally walk around, or eat, or go to the bathroom. I just don't have any drive to really do very much of anything, except what is needed for continued survival. I don't even want to watch movies and series!
Is that normal? It's a good anxiolytic (?), but I wonder if its anxiolytic effect derives from the fact that I don't care anymore... It was good though in relieving my psychosomatic ailments. |

Hello Hasnan: I can't comment with regard to the effects of Sertraline.

Hi Hasnan,
I have taken sertraline (we call it Zoloft in the US), and I didn't have the side effects you are experiencing. But meds affect different people differently. If you think it's doing more harm than good, talk to your doctor about it. I don't recommend going off it without talking to your doctor. |

I noticed that asking my PDOC to reduce the dosage helped. It was making me feel too emotionally flat, interfering with sex. Plus she wrote the prescription to take 1/2 pill in the morning and 1/2 in the evening saying take the other half after sex but I just take the 1/2 pill in the morning only.
So ask for something else or reduce how much you are taking. Being tired and unproductive sounds unacceptable.... |

zoloft...aka: soul-off...is notorious for numbing emotions, even compared to other ssri drugs (they're all pretty bad w/ apathy, amotivational syndrome, etc.).
switch to wellbutrin, maybe? non-drug treatments? benzodiazepines or lyrica, gabapentin instead of an antidepressant? |

![]() I thought about adding a noradrenergic drug with 5HT2-antagonism... e.g. Nortriptyline, Mirtazapine... Bupropion is problematic, because I have Social Anxiety Disorder and my BMI is 19. Maybe Amitriptyline? It isn't as serotonergic as Sertraline and isn't zombifying as SSRIs. Pregabalin is very interesing, I have read countless positive reports regarding Anxiety Disorders. I would like to try it. |

Strange, considering that it has some DRI properties... |
