Hi,
My psychdoc increase my abilify awhile back. Now I find myself feeling a little flattened out, little or no creativity, and no get up and go. Anybody else having these symptoms?
Dose related?

Dorsey

Hi dorsey, I take abilify--30 mgs a day. I have been on it for a couple years. I do think it slightly flattens me out and does affect my creativity. I am a painter and glass blower. But, I think the overall benefits of it outweigh the negatives. My creativity is there, I just have to work a little harder to find it. My emotions are there, I just have to work a little harder to identify them. Compared to being out of control and a little on the "crazy" side, it seems worth it--I am willing to do the extra work. I don't have problems with my motivation when I take it--if anything, I am more motivated. Over time, the flattening has decreased...the longer I stay on the med the more my body/mind seems to adjust to it. But everybody is different--maybe you have not found the right dose yet.

Thanks DePressMe,
What you said helped a lot. I love your sobriety counter! Where did you get it? I'd love to have one.

I was just prescribed this today. I am worried about my creativity, also! It is so much a part of who I am. My motivation is all but gone from taking my other meds ... will I ever get my book written? If I am manic, I can't get anything done, but if I'm flattened out, I can't either.

I take 25 mg Abilify as well as 5 other meds. It has definitley reduced my creativity & made me so tired that I have to take Provigil in the morning to exist, but it does keep me from being suicidal--that and Lamictal...plus sleeping meds, anti anxiety meds & meds for ADD.

Been on these things about 8 yrs now
