Anyone on Latuda for psychosis? Any side effects? How does it work for you? My pdoc prescribed it in addition to Rexulti to try to get the hallucinations under control.

I was on Latuda a few years ago, for 1 year. It didn't really help me much. If at all. Of course, many people are helped by it.

It’s the main med for me, I just take 3 meds now. I had side effects I didn’t like so I switched to taking it at bedtime so I’d sleep though the side effects. I’ve been very stable on it. I’m sure the side effects are all gone now but I still take it at bedtime. It’s habit now. Oddly it seemed the side effects were greater at the lower dose. I’m on 80 mg have been for around 5 years now and no dips down or up.

Thanks Nammu. Doctor told me to take it at night because of sleepiness. He is only wanting to put me on 40 mg so not a big dose at all. Just a little something to hopefully knock down some of these hallucinations since I'm on the highest dose of the Rexulti. I already take the Rexulti at night because it makes me ravenous so I try to sleep through the worst of that. So I was planning on taking it at night. He said to take it with food too.

As an aside, I know why the insurance is giving you a hard time. Latuda and Rexulti are both very expensive. I can't imagine that an insurance company would want to pay for both.

Anyways, I was on Latuda for a while. It didn't really do anything for me. I don't remember it being sedating, but I do have a high tolerance for that.

I wondered that. The doctor's office is still trying to get the insurance to cover it but I really haven't been on a lot of other AP's so they might insist that I try some of the other (cheaper) ones first. I'm in a holding pattern right now waiting to see what is going to happen. I'll give it a couple of days and then call the doctor's office if I haven't heard from them.

Latuda wasn't super helpful for me (second worst reaction to a med I've ever had), but as you know we all react differently so hopefully it helps you. I had worsened anxiety, akathisia, and sui thoughts

I guess the insurance wouldn't cover it so my doctor sent me 13 weeks worth of samples. I don't know what his plan is long term though. Maybe just put me on it for a little while and then take me back off. I tried it for the first time last night. So far I don't feel any differently. We'll see what happens.

The insurance approved the Latuda. So far I haven't noticed any side effects. I am taking it at night though.

Remember to take it with food, you need to take it with at least 350 calories (per nurses and doctors orders as they told me). I take 160mg of Latuda every night. It works, but I still get visual hallucinations between waking and sleeping. However, those can be attributed to PTSD treatment, other medicines, skipping doses of medicines, or stress.

I just kind of realized I haven't gotten any hallucinations since starting the Latuda.

I was having trouble with this part so now I just take it with dinner. I put the bottle of pills by my place at the table and that way I don't forget.
