I have been taking Desvenlafaxine (Pristic) at 50mg for four months for anxiety/ panic disorder and dealing with agoraphobia. I do not think it works fully for panic disorder and I have made an appointment with my psychiatrist for Monday. I listed some things that I have been feeling with Pristic that I am going to tell my psychiatrist.
1. Constipation
2. Pms or pmdd symptoms the week before my period. I get anxiety during that time.
3. Some low mood
4. Bouts of nervous energy
5. Anticipatory anxiety before going out.
6. Anxious moments throughout the day.
7. Panic attack a week ago while going to a store.

I'm not sure what might help but there are other meds out there for anxiety, especially panic attacks. I'm pretty sure a benzodiazepine is indicated for panic disorder. But I'm not sure. Though there are significant risks with benzodiazepines. So maybe asking if the psychiatrist might be willing to increase the dose of Pristiq? I remember that the dose can be increased.

Oh, and maybe as a second option you could ask about Venlafaxine (Effexor). Because it's very similar to Pristiq (desvenlafaxine). And maybe that one (Effexor) might offer you more flexibility in terms of the dose.

Thanks for responding back. I am taking klonopin for panic and especially when I go out to the store because that’s what basically helps.
I have also tried Effexor for 3 months about a year ago and it worked at the beginning but then my anxiety came back. The only medication that have helped in the past was Prozac so yeah I don’t know what my psychiatrist would say. If my dose gets increased, Pristic is expensive and i don’t have no more insurance.
