Howdy,
I have been on quite a few drugs for anxiety/sleep. I don't want to list them so that I can get your unbiased opinions. What have you all experienced as the best solution for GAD/sleep issues? Please tell me your experiences so I can discuss with my doctor. Hope all is well for the New Year! J |

The best thing that I have experienced so far with come-out-of-nowhere anxiety that's just there all the time for no reason is propranolol. I have a lot of physical anxiety issues and I found that it helped IMMENSELY. It calmed me down greatly to the point where I didn't need another sleep med. [for the anxiety that is there when you go to sleep]
Unfourtunately I had to stop it because we think it may have been inducing/increasing depression but it's hard to say. Lorazepam helps more with the sleeping [makes me slow] than the anxiety though does help with both. Of course these are just MY experiences. |

I have a lot of problems sleeping, when not medicated I either can not get to sleep or I am not able to stay asleep. My med combo that I am now for sleep seems to working the best so far, I take ambien to fall asleep and trazodone to stay asleep and it works great for me, on occasion I only need xanax to get my sleep just depending on what level my anxiety is at. I really recommend ambien cr because it does work pretty well for most, I saw some good results from that med but due to my insane toleration to medication it wasn't best for long term use. One plus to the ambien cr is that it is not as addictive as some of the other meds available.
My advice is to talk to your doctor and stay open to any possibilities that they recommend, there are a lot of different meds out there that help with different kind of sleeping problems. ![]()

What sleep issues are you having?
I couldn't get to bed...then I was up every so often and very early. I had Sonata to get me to bed- it worked in that regard but I was up every four hours. (In that case I just take Melatonin) I had a few Temazepan- Restoril which worked the first time and then diminished. My anxiety was so bad I was "powered" through them. Now I am taking Klonopin as needed for anxiety- have to say I snooze. But that stuff is addictive and scary. Ambien CR- works! |
