Hi friends,
I haven't been here in a while because work is crazy.
I was on Cymbalta for nightmares. It didn't work and I went off it in October. The brain zaps were constant and were making me miserable. Sometime near the end of November or the beginning of December, I realized that the brain zaps had stopped. So, if you're suffering with brain zaps, know that they ill go away eventually!
Take care Hope for those with brain zaps

Weeeellllll... Hope for those with brain zaps You know these new meds work specifically in established areas of the brain (hmm that didn't come out right.) These new meds are geared to work in a specific part of the brain, and coming off them can cause a side effect commonly known as brain zaps. I think you could imagine it being, no FEELING some brain neuron arcing across ...synapse miscommunication... it really does make you think there are little "zappings" within your brain.

Hope for those with brain zaps How'd I do folks?

Paxil withdrawal had the worst brain zaps EVER. it's been almost 2 months and they are finally gone. They were so brutal. Acupuncture, lots of water, daily doses of dramamine and tylenol helped me thru it.

Anyone experience the end of brains zaps coming off of Prozac / fluoxetine?

I am sure glad to know, at least with these other drugs, that they do eventually stop!

THANKS FOR THIS POST!!!

NO, they actually use prozac for people coming off of paxil because there are no harsh withdrawal symptoms with prozac.
check out www.quitpaxil.info
that site helped me soooo much. i'm sure it works for anyone with brain zaps.

I had terrible brain zaps with Effexor withdrawal. I even would have them if I missed a dose. I finally asked my doctor to wean me off because sometimes I miss doses d/t forgetfulness or being out of med before pay day. I couldn't tolerate the brain zaps, nausea and dizziness. I also would "hear" my eyes move - whosh, whosh . . . hated that too.

I could hear my eyes move, too! I remember the night I was analyzing the zaps as I fell asleep. The eye-movement sound was pretty freaky.

I had horrible zaps withdrawing from Paxil. It was like somebody sticking a taser into my brain. This was back when Drs insisted there 'was no withdrawal from SSRIs so I did it cold turkey. Yes, it did go away, probably within 2 months.

I need an antidepressant and have been taking Lexapro for several years. I can tell if I've missed one dose because the brain zaps start. I can't imagine getting off the Lexapro.
