nothemama8 - MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder?); is this what you mean. Medications would be given in cases of MPD only if there were symptoms to be treated. I do not believe that there is a medication that "cures" MPD. Many psychiatrists and psychologists disagree as to what MPD really is. When you don't know how to define a disorder, and that disorder is very rare, it is very difficult to treat much more than just overt symptoms of the disorder.

Medication can help the symptoms of that disorder. It doesn't fully get rid of it by no means but it does help. That's why alot of people who have a personality disorder are on medication. Actually they don't use MPD anymore when reffering to this disorder they use DID.... I forget exactly why they changed this, but that's what doctors reffer too now.
Dissociative Disorders are highly responsive to individual psychotherapy, or "talk therapy," as well as to a range of other treatment modalities, including medications, hypnotherapy, and adjunctive therapies such as art or movement therapy. In fact, among comparably severe psychiatric disorders, Dissociative Disorders may be the condition that carries the best prognosis if proper treatment is undertaken and completed. The course of treatment is longterm, intensive, and invariably painful, as it generally involves remembering and reclaiming the dissociated traumatic experiences. Nevertheless, individuals with Dissociative Disorders have been successfully treated by therapists of all professional backgrounds working in a variety of settings. That's usually the treatments for DID. <font color=red>~</font color=red><font color=blue>S</font color=blue><font color=green>u</font color=green><font color=blue>n</font color=blue><font color=green>d</font color=green><font color=blue>a</font color=blue><font color=green>n</font color=green><font color=blue>c</font color=blue><font color=green>e</font color=green><font color=red>~</font color=red> <font color=blue>"Never react emotionally to criticism.
