I was taking Zoloft and Xanax a few years back and my panic attacks and depression almost totally went awat. Then my family doc got another doctor in the business with him. Well Dr.#2 had to see me one day and took me compleatly off of my meds and told me to go to a psych. Well it took me almost 7 months to get into one and they ended up putting me on Lexapro, Topamax, Geodon, and Seraquel. I quit them becuse I could'nt handle the side affects. They refused to put me back on my Zoloft. Well since taking the meds from the psych, I have had alot of weight gain my hair thinned and I have alot of dizzy spells. Any suggestions?

I think you need to get yourself another doctor. If the drug meds before worked for you, you should find a doctor who is at least willing to start you off on that, and maybe change meds *slowly* if they think something might work better.

I'm with Christina, you need to find another doctor, one that will at least listen to you. I had the same problem here, but I stopped going to Doc #2 and only accepted appointments with my original doctor.

The psychiatrist I used to see valued my input about what worked for me. My treatment was about me, not about him.

Try someone new or ask to see your old doc?

Can you talk to doc #1 again? He had you on Zoloft to start, maybe he will put you on again. Also, I think he should be informed of what his partner did to you--taking you off meds that were working and leaving you hanging without psychopharmacologic care for 7 months. I guess I also don't see what is the big deal for the new pdoc about Zoloft. He has you on Lexapro, which is an SSRI, just like Zoloft. I agree with ECHOES, your care is about you, and since you don't know why you are on those meds instead of Zoloft, this indicates to me your pdoc is not communicating well with you. Try another doc, one who believes in the team approach to patient care (doc + patient = team).

Good luck.

Definitely get yourself to a doc who listens to you. It seems "crazy" to my to take you off medications that are working...--Suzy (The others prescribed are usually for bipolar. Did the 2nd doc dx you as bipolar? Did the 1st dx you as depressed with anxiety?)

I don't have patience anymore for doctors who want to tinker around and use me as an experiment when I know what works. I don't have patience for doctors who want to tinker around and use me as an experiment when I know what works. As I always say-- it's my life, and I make the decisions.

By the way, how was Seroquel for you? Specifically, I mean... if you can tell
