I'm wondering if I should cut back or even stop drinking coffee. I work long hours and its extreemely hard labor. Most of the time I really do need the extra boost but I drink so much of it that when I don't have it, I get bad headaches. Even now as I am typing, I am full of energy, but I have a painful headache because I haven't had coffee this morning. I feel addicted to it because I'll drink it even when I have energy and won't be very active during the day.

I live on the stuff, and if I do not drink at least the morning cup I too will get a headache and attribute it to just that. If I were you I'd try cutting it gradually, why torture yourself, right?
Over the years I drink so much I no longer get "energized"
Also you may want to have your blood pressure checked just to rule out anything. I have cut back a lot from drinking so much coffee since I do not smoke anymore, they went great together, ha!ha! Remember tea, and some cola's have caffiene too, so you may want to check the labels if you switch to something other than coffee.
Good luck with this

DE is right on the money (as usual). Cut back on the caffiene slowly, those headaches can be murder...Try replacing a few of the cups with a Coke (or Diet Coke). I'd watch the tea though, most people don't realize that most teas have more caffiene in them than coffee does. I understand about the addiction feeling, I'll drink it when I don't really want it, just because...

That does work, but now I enjoy the real thing since I have been off my "health kick". I do suggest the same thing though as you have, I got off of cafffiene for 9 months 16 years ago while being pregnant with my one and only child.
Take care,

yes caffine could be a trigger for your magiranes but so can depessoin or other aspect that we do think about The best thing to do is go to your primary doctor and ask him to do a work up and ask him if something else may be the trigger of your migranes, I have been caffine free for over 4 years now, and I still get migranes every once and awhile.. So asking is a step in the right direction.

Dear Lady D,
I think you replied to the wrong person here, I find caffiene helps gaurd against headaches, but that is my personal opinion, ha!ha!
Stress can be a big factor in migraines too, i do not get them much but when I haven't slept well and under heavy stress I get migraines at least 2 times a year, but since I have been on anti-convulsants for bipolar, I haven't had any migraines, in fact last year on the news they showed on a medical clip that anti-convulsants were very successful for migraine sufferers.
Always something new coming out, and some things actually work, ha!ha!
much admiration to you Lady D for being able to rid your system of caffiene, I am addicted to the stuff and if that is my only vice that is fine by me, ha!ha!
Take care

Without my coffee my darkeyes would have dark rings too, ha!ha!
