Depakote and sleepiness

I know i posted on someone else's thread how bad Depakote sucks, but I don't think I mentioned I got put back on it. Today is day 2.

Last time I was on it, I was unemployed, which was a good thing, as all I could do was sleep. But that's not possible now. Anybody got any tips for surviving the extreme drowsiness?

maybe you should talk to your gp and ask them if they can give you a different med that will do the same as depakote does

That would be great if I didn't have physical conditions that contraindicate taking a lot of mood stabilizers. I'm down to near-zero in choices for them.

I hate Depakote in fact I hate ALL MOOD STABILZERS .I will cut & burn my arms or just wont to kill my self on them. Mabey im to old to change but I like my manic with out Im nothing .But I did work with my doctor to find other meds .

One is called GABITRIL It is a mood stebilzer put very mild I take it as needed to calm me down instead of zanxe or val. it works well 4mgs. calms me 8mgs. puts me to sleep for like a hour or two and there know lag.GABITRIL is not even close to Depakote other meds. of that family .My doc. was thinking outside of the box with GABITRIL
but it has no side effects that I can tell you of .
