Does anyone know what is considered to be a high dose of Depakote to be on? Currently, I just got bumped up to 1500mg and am curious as to how many others are that high or higher?

Thanks.

It really depends on what you are taking Depakote for.

Also everyone metabolizes medication differently so what may work for you at 1500mg may work for someone else at 800mg and the additional dosage is not necessary.

It depends on your situation. Your psychiatrist should be doing blood tests to evaluate the levels, because there are "guidelines" similar to the medication Tegretol.

In general, the dose depends on things like gender, weight, height, other medications patients are on, etc.

I'm taking it for my bipolar and have had my blood levels taken once all ready. It just seems like I've been moved up rather quickly. I jumped from 750 to 1000 to 1500 today.

Well for Bipolar Affective Disorder the recommended initial dose is 750mg and it should be increased as rapidly as possible to achieve desired clinical results or blood plasma concentration levels. It seems like everything is on a safe path.
