Diet pills are really not very safe at all. The over-the-counter ones are the least safe. The older ones are basically speed. Some of the newer ones contain ephedra which is known to increase blood pressure and cause heart problems. Most just plain don't work. ANY medication can interact with prescribed meds...this includes over-the-counter, "natural", and "herbal". There are rx diet pills the doctor can prescribe. Even these carry risks. The only safe way to use a diet pill is with your doctor's knowledge and guidance.

Diet pills do NOT work.

And those that do....have really bad side effects.

Alli makes you poop a lot. Most of the stimulant / appetite-suppressant ones make your heart race and make you jittery.

Wish I could tell you otherwise...but been there, done that, tried pretty much every diet pill on the market at some point in my life. And I'm still fat.

Hoodia works a lot like Ephedra...makes your heart race, speeds up your metabolism, suppresses appetite.

something like that could be especially bad for anyone prone to mania and/or panic attacks.

Bipolar Saying:

"Fat and Happy or Skinny and Sad"

These meds just suck! I know what you mean....but I don't think diet pills work. I don't think anything works.....I think it's destiny. Diet Pills?

One thing to maybe make you feel better. Men simply lose weight faster than women - period - if they just try. At the Weight Watchers meetings the women want to kick all the men who lose weight 2 or 3 times as fast as we do. It's science.

Anyhoo...what I'm saying is, maybe try a little exercise and cut down portions and skip the drive-thrus. See if that helps a little.

If you're not a binge eater / emotional eater...the weight could come off fairly easily.

Good luck. I know it's hard.
