Has anybody had any side effects from Lamactil? Or felt that it didn't work for them?

Just curious actually. I have had very grim reactions to all the other medication that I have tried and he assured me that Lamactil had none.
I just need some re-assurance that's all. |

The only side effect I had was for the first two or three days I would get a headache for about an hour but it wasn't a bad headache just mild to moderate and like I said it went away rather quickly.
I've been doing much better. Some people don't notice the differnce until they are up to about 200mg. But you have to start out slowly at about 25mg and slowly work up so it may take awhile to notice. I notice right away even at 25mg. |

I had the headache, too, though that effect went away after a couple of weeks. There's a very serious but rare side effect to watch out for that involves a rash. Any rash you get while on it should be checked by a doctor.

I've been taking Lamictal for almost a year. (I take it for seizures). I noticed after about a week that I had a HUGE burst of energy. I was taking Tegretol, and my doctor weaned me off that while weaning me onto the Lamictal. He told me this would probably happen, as Tegretol has a tendency to bring people "down" while they're taking it. I started seeing things more clearly too--almost like wiping off a foggy windshield. I never had any of the other side effects (rash, dizziness, etc.) It works fine for me.

I have been a big fan of Lamictal...until now. I took it for something like 2 years and I thought it really helped stabilize my moods and lift my depression. Now, that I have cut the dose way back, my mind is much clearer and I have less affect blunting. It took away all my feelings...good and bad.
