How do I know if this is the med giving me the side effects if I am taking 3 diff meds every night? I have heard alot of negative press about this med, can anyone tell me there experience with this med?I've only been on it a few days and conteplating continuing it> ANY SUGGESTIONS?

What side effects are you having? What other meds are you on? That could help pinpoint it.

Most of what I've heard about Lamictal is that it doesn't have bad side effects. Except for the scary rash. Do you have a rash? If so, call your doc IMMEDIATELY.

I've been on Lamictal for about 4 weeks now, no side effects except weight gain, but we think that is from another med I'm on (Zyprexa).

I'm on Lamictal also, no side effects yet. The only thing my Pdoc warned of was a scary rash, maybe you should talk with your doctor about the side effects you are experiencing.

Been on Lamictal 8 years. Good results. No neg.side effects though I did look out for the rash. (Bipolar 1). Taking lots of other stuff, but Lamictal seems to have good results with minimal side effects--but it also takes a long tim to get to a therapeutic dose.--Suzy

Besides the hectic headaches in the beginning, I haven't had any side effects.

My psychiatrist told me that (unless its a severe reaction) this med tends to have less side effects than many others. For me that was true in the beginning; I was feeling great with no side effects. My aunt is on the med and mentioned that an annoying problem for her is blurred vision but thats it.

However I had an allergic reaction and had to get off it. This is very rare, and the symptoms vary from person to person, but some things to look out for are: a rash on the skin (red and spotty - sometimes will go away and you'll be fine), swollen lips, painful mouth sores, painful swollen gums, severe headache, nausea, vomiting... These are the symptoms I experienced but there may be others. Just keep an eye out for those but I think this is a great med and if you aren't allergic to it you should be fine!

I have been on Lamictal now for several weeks without any side effects. If you added the Lamictal and started having side effects, it's possible the side effects are from that rather than your other meds. If you started them all at the same time then it's virtually impossible to tell which med it's from. Regardless, if you're concerned about the side efffects you need to talk to the doc and see what he/she says.

I love lamictail, it works great for me, no side effects at all. since i suffer from anorexia doc prescribed for me so that i would not gain weight.......3 months later no weight gain!! I also take lithium and xanax as well!!
