First night of tapering OFF Effexor and ON Zoloft. I am taking 25 mg Zoloft and whatever less of Effexor, going down (or up) 25 mg a week for 4 weeks till I'm fully off one and fully on the other.

Effexor withdrawal BLOWS -- I have gotten sick as a dog, hallucinated, chills, violent, vivid dreams, you name it, after only 2 days skipping it. But within literally SECONDS after swallowing a measly 25 mg of Zoloft I am sick to my stomach.

Anybody else been through this?

Pdoc said it might cause nausea, but he didn't say it would be IMMEDIATE!

At the same time, I am following a strict new diet to try to control my newly dx'd diabetes (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR), and I'm out of available things to eat for the day.

Med changes suck: Can I get a big AMEN? zoloft....oh dear. :-

AMEN!!! A few med changes ago, I couldn't get into my regular doc and saw a different one in the clinic. She wasn't paying attention and changed me from Effexor to Wellbutrin (which did not work). We didn't ween off of the Effexor, I didn't know any better.

I thought the awful dreams and brain zaps were from the new meds. When I went to my regular doc and complained of the side effects of the Wellbutrin, he said "you quit Effexor cold turkey?!?" and left the room for a bit.

HORRIBLE dreams that seemed so real. I had to check to make sure that I really hadn't murdered or injured my children.

I do have to say, nausea is def a symptom starting zoloft. No doubt about that! My doc put me on zoloft, but it was a choice between zoloft and effexor. How did the effexor work out for you?

I was on Effexor for 8 years I think -- I don't remember if I started it in 1999 or 2000, actually. LOVED. IT. Worked very very well for me for a very long time. But 8 years is plenty of time for a poop-out, don't you think? LOL Plus, it's kind of pricey, and I don't have good med insurance.

Did eating when you took the Zoloft help with the nausea or make it worse?

AMEN Candy

I went off lexapro because it increased anxiety. I went off Effexor because it raised my bp. I am now weaning off zoloft too after only a month.

I AM SICK OF MEDS

good luck with the zoloft. I think the nausea will ease off. Try eating some dry crackers.
