I watched the show intervention last nite how this lady is addicted to Seroquel and other meds. She has been going to 100 diff docs in five months and she did get a prescpriton from each of them.
She only sleeps during the day, cant care for her children and her husband is leaving her.It was so sad to watch someone to be so addicted to drugs.Im on seroquel and its not working for me.Im supposed to only take 300mg and sometimes i take 600mg and even that doesnt work so if i stop it i have to slowly wean off it,right?
im so scared.Lamictal isnt also working for me.Been taking it since feb.my mood swings hare worse.i have suicide thoughts and angry all the time. But i dont think i would kill myself.I just wanna be happy.Just need to find the right drug that will work for me and manage these triggers.
any advice on what i can expect on stopping these meds
thank u

If the meds aren't working, tell your doc & he/she should be working with you to find the right dosages & combos. It took me a year of trial & error to find what worked (most of the time; meds aren't fool proof, as I found out after 5 years of stability & then I went manic). I wouldn't be experimenting with the dosages myself. If the drug is not working at the dosage the doc prescribed, let him figure out if it should be increased or changed to something else. He's the expert.--Suzy

I'm sorry your medications are not working. Do you feel the same as you did prior to taking Seroquel and Lamictal?

Those are two very popular choices for the treatment of Bipolar Disorder. You are on the standard dosage of Seroquel. You should not stop taking Seroquel. Consult your doctor about tapering the dose off to avoid the nasty withdrawl effects.

I like that show. Its nice to see that just maybe it could make a difference in someone watching. And if someone can relate and watch that show, just maybe it could have a positive influence on them.
