Wondering if anyone can help me out, please. I have been on Lexapro for a number of years, 20 mg taken in the morning. Have been taking it with in a half a hour each and every day. I am currently experiencing effects like when you stop taking anti depressants. That dizzy, sorta lighting bolt effect in your head, moments of feeling blackness. Has or is anyone else experiencing this? Is it something that I am doing? I have asked my GP about this, and all he thought was that it was my BP. My Blood pressure is good, normal in fact. Had a session with psys this week, but she was running behind and did not have time to talk, so just gave me another script. I am actually scared to tell her how I am feeling, I dont want to end up in a hospital or something. Can anyone shed some light, please? I have a lot of stress going on in life right now, like we all do, having surgery next week, taking care of my 14 month old son and not getting any help from his dad. I feel alone, scared and empty. Please help.
Thank you |

((((((((((Casensmom)))))))))))))
Sometimes drugs start reacting badly in our systems, for any number of reasons. Sometimes they cease to work, period. It sounds like you're experiencing a bad effect of the drug, and that you really should talk to your doctor. You may need to switch ADs. Please take care of yourself and seek the advise of a doctor.

Casensmom, I get those feelings of lighting bolt and then blackness in my head. They generally happen when I am under a lot of stress. I don't think they are related to my meds, although I am not sure. It sounds like you are under an intense amount of stress. Could they be stress related? When they start happening to me, I immediately close my eyes and take in a few long breaths and try to relax. I focus on breathing in deep and then exhaling the anxiety. I hope you don't think it is corny, but it helps me. Maybe somebody else will have some ideas....hang in there.

I would get those symptoms if I stop taking the Lexapro. A hard way to find out that I'm sensitive to low serotonin levels.
![]() Please don't hold back on how you are feeling. You may need to tweak your dosages or change meds altogether. |

Thank you to all that have posted. Im still having the same issues, and did not sleep longer than 20 minutes last night.
I have a call into my doctor, the person who answered said that they may not get back to me until Monday. I will keep all posted. Thank you again for your care and support. |
