I take Provigil for hypersomnia. I had to get a sleep study done to prove that I had it, but it was well worth the time! Good luck!

I have hypersomnia as part of atypical depression. Provigil has done wonders for me. I also use light therapy from fall to spring.

Good luck.

I think I had a headache the first few days, but otherwise, none I've noted.

I take Provigil and Dexedrine for what was diagnosed as Narcolepsy after having a sleep study done. I had two car wrecks in one weeks time and it was determined that I fell asleep both times in the middle of the day so the medicine is helping me but I've also been told I can no longer work in part because of this diagnosis.

Tell your sister I'm sorry, it really sucks. I'm struggliging through the long and mountainous stacks of paperwork to try and get on disability. It wouldn't just be due to the Narcolepsy but also severe depression and PTSD, etc. It is very time consumming and the government takes their time to make thier decisions. I don't know I'm going to do if it is denied. Keep your fingers crossed and I will do the same for your sisiter. Tell her to hang in there

Take care,
Lori

After her first child my mom went to the doc. and told him she was tired and had to drink coffee to stay awake - the doc asked how much and she said 22 cups a day!!!!!!!!! Many years later she took a small dose of dexedrine to stay awake, but it was a real problem as you know! She was such a grouch in the mornings.

My problem is the opposite sometimes I stay up for 48 and then sleep for 20. what a mess. I am trying to get myself back in order, part of the problem is no job and empty nest.

Hope you can find a med. to work on this for you.
