I don't know if this is caused by the Effexor or not, I noticed it happening after I got off Mirtazipine, but i've had broken sleep for the past 5 days or so now and i'm always exhausted.

Don't want to do anything at all, go anywhere.

To tired to have a workout etc. It sucks.

Does anyone else experience or have experienced this on Effexor?

I know you know meds affect everyone differently, I'm only prefacing this with that statement for the newbies! Effexor & Broken Sleep

But, yes, I too had trouble with sleeping on Effexor. But since Effexor is also the only med to help with my depression (needed that norepy!) I had to continue on it. My pdoc added something to help with sleep. Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled with popping yet another pill, but heck...better than not sleeping. Now I sleep like a baby. You might try posting to Larry about natural alternatives if that interests you, or if the problem continues, ask you pdoc for something to help.

Not sleeping is the worst! When I was in my first major depression, and too depressed and confused to understand what was wrong with me, I went 18 months without a real nights sleep. It was really a nightmare. After that I vowed to not put myself in that position again. Sleep really is important to good mental and physical health. When I met my pdoc, I made sure we were in agreement on this!

Thanks Emily.

I've had this problem before in the past. What my pdoc told me to do is always get out of bed. Do something, read a boring book instead of tossing and turning for hours.

But it's hard to do right now because my anxiety is too high, and when i'm with my BF I want that comfort while trying to sleep.

It sucks though, not liking this.
I'm not too sure about taking a sleeping aid to help me sleep, I rather try everything else before going that direction.

As for natural remedies, i'm iffy about that because I know alot of supplements can interact badly with your meds, so I stay away from that.

We will see.

What I found was that Effexor caused some sleep disturbances at first, but they passed after a few days. After each dose increase, they came back, but went away faster each time.

For what it's worth, Cymbalta seemed to do the same sort of thing, but then left me ready to sleep the day away until lowering the dose and adding Wellbutrin.

Best luck to you. I hope the sleep stuff passes for you, too, quickly as it did for me. (Oh, and make sure you take it in the morning!)

Genevieve

I always take Effexor in the morning between 9 and 10.

This has been going for 5 days roughly now and don't see it stopping. The best sleep I had was over the weekend when I only woke up once.
Now it's all gone to hell.

I've been anxiety ridden too so maybe that's partly why I feel so crappy...

Effexor made me manic for the first 3 weeks I was on it, and I'm not bipolar. But it passed.

I did not sleep again last nite a couple times during the nite and again the morning. Woke up at 6am to make sure the doors were locked, maybe that was more related to PTSD then anything.

Don't know but it's been awhile now since I was able to have a good nite sleep. Effexor & Broken Sleep

Well I just got off the phone with my psychiatrist and she told me to take the Effexor at supper time to just see if I can sleep better, take that for 2 days and then call her Saturday, if that doesn't work then we'll go up in dose.

She asked if I wanted something to help me sleep, I told her no.

So we'll see.
