My doctor just prescribed Abilify to add to my Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Yesterday was my first day and it wasn't great. I had some stomach upset which caused me to crave bread and other foods which cause me to gain weight. Is anyone else on this drug? I have dysthymia (sp?) but now my doc thinks I have obsessive compulsive personality disorder also and that 2 mg. of Abilify will help me to worry less. If I can't fit into my clothes though, my worry will go through the roof! Is anyone else on a low dose of abilify for anxiety? If so, how is it working out for you? Thanks!

I took Abilify some time ago. Like all such medications, it did nothing for me.

Last night was my first time taking Abilify and it was just the 2mg. I'd read the side effects and was really hesitant. First thing I noticed is my skin felt itchy. It's better now but still there to an extent. I also feel like I have constant indigestion and feel burpy/barfy all the time. I am agitated, tired and feel weird.
I was put on it because I tend to self-harm in arguments with my husband. He called the police last Monday when I hit myself with a blunt glass object, something I've never done before. I was humiliated that the police came. The officer I spoke with sized up the situation and suggested I stop letting my husband control me and do what is best for me (my husband wanted me to go off the Zoloft I went on so I could deal with him better, he didn't like the side effects). So, hopefully Abilify will help me to be more motivated and focused so I can covertly plan my escape. Can those that have been on Abilify tell me how long the side effects lasted and did you ever get to the point where you experienced little or no side effects? |

Thanks so much for your response, June. It's good to hear something positive. What are you taking the abilify for, if you don't mind my asking? Today is Day 10 for me and I'm feeling pretty good. At first, I had some stomach upset (as I mentioned), some heartburn and some constipation, but the side effects have gone away for the most part. The only problem I'm having now is that I'm having trouble concentrating. That makes my work pretty difficult, as concentration is important, but it's only been 10 days, and I'm still hoping for the best. Congrats on your accomplishment!

I take abilify because I have always needed some form of antipsychotic, due to delusions, racing thoughts, obssessive thoughts, and mania...no side effects for me........

HI, I have been on Ability for 2 years, started at a higher does 10mg and have been decreased to a smaller dose 2 mg.. It really has worked well for me.. I haven't had any side effects at all. I used to have paranoia and I haven't felt that way in years.. I was told it can remain in your system for 96 hrs from just 1 dose, so it's a long acting drug..

I tried Ablilfy and didn't care for it much. It made my anxiety much worst I stopped taking it after 3 days .Trying to find the right combo of meds. is hard .They can work against each other it took me years to get a combo I could live with and even now I try cutting back the dose on some of my strong meds. to get get myself on the lowest dose .
