Hi Mazer,
I take 100 mg of seroquel at night - I don't think it makes me feel exceptionally angry. I also take lexapro for depression. That is alarming that you are feeling that way - can you talk to you pdoc about it? Maybe he can lower the does or try something else.... best wishes, ktgirl ![]() |

mazer,
Serolquel did make me feel angry. I had to stop taking it. It also messed with my hormones, which might have been the reason I was so angry. You aren't alone.

Hi Mazer, Seroquel has not given me issues with my anger. Matter of fact, it seems to calm me down and mellow me out. I take 800 mg a day. It has been a real good med for me. But, everybody has different reactions to psychmeds. Maybe Seroquel is not the best med for you. Talk with your doc about it. It would be even better if you could figure out a way to get to see a psychiatrist.

My boyfriend takes Seroquel. I don't know the dosage, sorry, but I do know it doesn't make him angry...It makes him HUNGRY. He said it increased his appetite to the point where he gained 20 lbs within the past year.
![]() He takes multiple meds, and if you are taking other stuff, it may be an interaction with something else that makes you feel this way. A website I like is www.askapatient.com. You'll find a lot of reviews on meds, and you can sort by gender, age, highest or lowest rating and read side effects. Some people have posted an e-mail address. You can also post your own comments, without having to register. I agree with DepressMe, that a psychiatrist would be a best bet in talking over meds. My boyfriend sees once a month to talk about how he's doing, any adverse effects, if he needs any adjustments, etc. I know it's expensive though. ![]() Can't be of much help. ![]() ![]()

I took only 25mg for a few days, and yeah it made me feel so angry. Some people said it made them really hungry but not me, it made me have absolutely no appetite, never even thought about food. And just slept all day and all night and felt like a zombie, having to drag my feet to even walk. This was supposed to help my anxiety, huh, yeah right! it made me so paranoid and anxious that I couldn't even check the letterbox. Definitely did not work for me, so back to the drawing board once again.

Yes, it happened to me. I became really agitated and became very impatient and very very angry. I don't remember how much I was taking but as soon as I stopped taking them I was back to normal. Glad to hear that other ppl had same experince. When I told my Pdoc, she made me feel like I was making excuses...

It doesn't make me angry. The effects of taking it make me angry. I just get a lot of general anxiety and an inability to function well. This makes me angry !!
I started at 100mg at night. This increased to 200mg and then 300mg. All was fine until I experienced longer and longer periods of anxiety. When I reported this to my pdoc, the natural response was to increase to 400mg. I soon realized that my anxiety was being caused by the Seroquel. My pdoc agreed that I reduce to 200mg. Things have been a lot better but my mornings are a bit patchy. I have experimented for a couple of nights with 100mg. My mornings are great but my sleep is not great. 4 hours sleep and waking at 2am. I have a bit of a dilemma. I may have to return to 200mg. Does anyone have experience of taking their night time dosage early? I have tended to take mine about 20 minutes before bed. I just wondered if I could take it earlier and avoid some of the morning hangover. Clive |

I'm getting used to seroquel now, at the start it only took about 20-40 minutes after taking it that I was so tired I couldn't stay awake any longer. Now I take it about 9ish and I'm tired around 11ish. So, I have managed to get used to it and stay up for at 1.5 hrs longer, without adjusting the dosage. I usually wake up about 7-8am and don't feel groggy. I don't have to set an alarm or be up at a certain time though as I'm not working right now, so I can't say whether I would feel hungover 'having' to wake up at a certain time.
Probably would be a good idea for you and your pdoc to look at an alternative for you as it seems to be creating a lot more stresses and problems for you than it is helping and there's likely something else that will help you more.

Hi JaeKae,

Thanks for your thoughts. They are useful and appreciated. I only kept on Seroquel after a minor manic blip because of the help with my chronic sleep problems. I don't think Seroquel is a suitable sleep aid. It has too many issues. I have not had much luck with traditional sleep aids. I will be sure to discuss it with my pdoc next week. Clive |

I'm really curious what dosages people are on. From what Wikipedia says, treatment for Bipolar is recommended at 200 - 800 mg and that seems like an awful lot, considering how knocked out I am already with one 50mg XR in the morning and a 25mg at night to sleep. Is it weight dependent? I'm 110Lbs. Is it just because I just started taking it?
Anger is actually part of the reason I recently started Seroquel. I have been having thoughts of hurting people and snapping really quickly, no patience, immediately losing my temper and thinking something rash or even saying something and then being surprised and disturbed by my self, constantly annoyed and even when I'm feeling absolutely fine something little will set me off (a woman in a restaurant jiggling her foot made me want to hurt her today... that's just bizarre for me). I'm not normally like that, usually pretty level-headed and patient with people, but I've even started to be hurtful to my friends and I have had to ask them to stay away from me, telling them I just need some space, because I can't control my self and I'm afraid I'll do or say something harmful. I don't know yet if there is a difference on the Seroquel because I felt like this before I started. I have been trying to remind my self when I feel angry that there is no reason to be angry and focus on something else, and the only improvement I can see so far is that I'm actually sleeping, which is a good thing, albeit 13 hours a day, and that I'm not having panic attacks or freaking out and having to sedate my self in order to function.
