I read on the 'net that aripiprazole ("Abilify") showed frequent flu syndrome side effects in premarket trials. I seem to have caught the flu the day after I began taking the drug. I'm on a starter dose of 10mg. How do I know whether I really have the flu or not, or whether it's side effects of the drug????

Mal:

Are you feeling any better now? I guess there's no way to know without seeing a physician. I sure hope you feel better. I was down with the flu last week and it royally sucked. It has alot to do with why I haven't been around much.

I am sending good thoughts your way that you are feeling better and that it isn't the flu. (um..or a side effect of Abilify..)

Good luck dear !!!

Kimberly.

I was on 10mg also but I just got flu-like symptoms. Runny nose and coughing all the time. The way I could tell if it was the medication is by watching the color of my mucus. If clear it was the medication and if it wasn't I would go to my family doctor to get checked out. Hope this helps and I hope you feel better.
