Okay. I just got my meds switched today. I switched from lexapro to prozac. What should i know about prozac. Weight gain? Headaches? Nervousness? Or has everyone had good experiences?

(((esthersvirtue)))) welcome to my prozac driven world!

Actually the worst side effects that I had were nightmares in the first few weeks of taking it. NO weight gain for me, I didnt' lose weight either though until I actively made the decision to do so. Headaches were no worse. No terribly bad side effects other than feeling tired, but that was only for a few weeks. Actually I feel about 200% better since starting the prozac than I did before. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I don't think my anxiety level changed any but it was very high at the time. I have an anxiety disorder and also panic attacks. But I also augmented the Prozac with Xanax .5 mg daily. So far so good. Good luck to you!!!!!!

Take Care,
Kimberly.

I have a prescription for Prozac at the pharmacy waiting for pickup right now! I took it for several years a decade ago. The worst side effect was apathy which came on so slowly I wasn't really aware of it. ( I'm planning to watch for it and augment with Ritalin or Adderall if necessary). The other side effect...sorry to mention it but yes I did gain weight about 20 pounds. The weight gain started after about 6-8 months.

So why am I taking it again? Well for me it worked better on anxiety and agitated depression than anything else and there really weren't any other side effects except nausea (other than the apathy and weight gain.)

Peoples experiences vary so widely even with the same drug so you never can really tell. I hope it works well for you and me both!

I've been on Prozac for about a year. I like it and we just tweaked my level so I now take 60mg. I think that's the highest you can go on it. I have a high tolerance for meds that's why I am on so much.
