How do you know when there is too much medication in your system? In the last view weeks Ive been yoyo-ing with meds because my psychiatrist is out of the country and I was having some major side effects so Ive been getting advice from other doctors to try to get rid of the side effects.

So Ive lowered the dose of zoloft, then stopped it, then started it again. Then last night I stopped taking it and switched to prozac. Now I just feel so sick and so drugged up. My T mentioned that with all these meds in the last year, I may be going through some drug toxicity. Right now I just feel so so sick and with no psychiatrist and the closest one in a neighbouring country, I really dont know what to do

I would recommend taking your medication as prescribed and dealing with the side effects until your psych gets back unless they are so completely unbearable you just can't fathom another day with them. But be careful messing with your medication, that could be the cause of all of the side effects stuff going on. We're not psychiatrists trained in medicine so be very careful what you do.

Love and Hugs,
Tara

Thanks for the reply. I changed my meds under the advice of two doctors and a psychiatrist in another country who knows me pretty well. The side effects were putting my job at jeapordy so I couldnt wait for my psych to come back. I was just wondering about toxicity since I have been through about 15 different medications in a year and a half so that could be a plausible theory. I just feel really flu like and would appreciate some suggestions. If anyone else had a similar experience. I dont really expect anyone to tell me what to do, I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else.... Thanks

that makes so much more sense. there's a lot of info out there on drug toxicity. basically the normal side effects or symptoms become more pronounced. if the drugs are at toxic levels in your body i would be very wary of continuing them. if it were me i would try to find a psychiatrist anywhere i could to get lab work done just to make sure. sorry my first post was so ignorant.

love and hugs,
tara
