I'm working with an outplacement firm for job hunting, and I've been told by several people there that I come accross as really reserved and emotionally "flat" - I've heard the same thing from a couple of headhunters. I expressed the concern today to my pdoc that I was afraid I was letting my mood, which can best be described as flat, come through in interview settings. Turns out she thinks that the emotional flatness, I'm feeling / showing, is likely a side effect of the Risperidone (3 mg daily) She sugggested trying a lower dose, but I find the 3 mg really works for me.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced emotional flatness as a side effect.

I was a home provider for a brain injured individual who was taking Riperidone. Her moods and overall appearance were quite flat. Unfortunately, we could not change her doseage as it would have made for trouble for her in that she would have had some very difficult behaviors to deal with (both herself and anyone else around her). Her brain injury caused her personality change. It was quite sad to see, but the Risperidone really was a godsend for her so she could be in the community.

As a side note though, there were times when her sense of humor did come through (she was very dry) and we used to laugh up a storm...I guess it all depended on the day for her.

Wish I had an answer to better help you splitimage.

I had a bad experience with this drug to be honest.

It gave me terrible shakes and made me MORE anxious than I was in the beginning - and yes, very flat too. My friend J also takes it for bipolar and finds it makes him very flat too. I think this is a very common side effect.

I am only on 0.5mg but it has made it very hard for me to show emotion. i broke up with my bf and i found it hard to show any emotion. it has also made me an isomniac and completely cleared my head to the point where it is hard to think straight.
